Lissome Lisboa

(Think the title sucks but whatever!!)
A not so famous touristy place in Europe, but still one of the best places I have been to, was Lisbon with an amazing old world feel plus amazing weather even in December! We landed up there just because it was a country we hadnt been to in Europe (plus cheap tickets too!). The city is like a mix of the old and the new, very different from what you would expect from a European city. Portugal was at the forefront of the discovery age but at some point, maybe got left behind in the race for modernity and world domination.

The old town has small lanes, quaint churches, and an old world feel about it, not seen in most other European cities. Its fun just to walk along those roads. The party area is Baro alto, where when we landed at 10 pm, seemed empty! And when we reached there at 3 am, the streets were full of people partying outside on the roads itself... Very lively, with music playing and everyone on the roads drinking! The views at night from the palace are breathtaking too, and lot of nice cosy places to sit down and have a drink.

We drove around the Portuguese countryside (the city is so small, very easy to get out into the country!), it doesnt really seem as first world as we all thought. Our driver was out of this world too, well he never followed lane driving, and we all had to be alert where he was driving to! This bridge comes to the mind everytime, the feeling that it runs into infinity.
The monument to discovery was impressive, especially when the weather is not cold,
as is the Redeemer Statue, similar to the one in Rio.
Yes yes, so is the monastery, as I pointed out to all my friends repeatedly!

All in all, a nice weekend place...
